WHAT?
The reading from last class, Jan 26, discussed how as educators, we need to be aware of what we are posting on social networking sites such as Facebook or MySpace. We need to be aware of who is seeing the information we are displaying, and also be cautious of what we choose to share with the cyber world- as it could come back to bite you.
So What?/ Now What?
- use privacy settings if you are using a personal page
- be professional about what you post
- do not mix person and professional relationships (DO NOT accept current students as "friends")
- remember you are a role-model
WHAT?
The other reading discussed e-cheating and how easy it is for students to get caught up in plagiarism these days because of how much is available on the web, and also it gave a list of 8 ideas that we, as educators, should take into consideration to help prevent our students from plagiarizing.
So What?/ Now What?
- use the tips so that you are well prepared
- know what material is out there when you assign a paper/project
- educate your students on the severity of cheating
- be reasonable about what you are assigning so that students do not feel like they have to go to other "sources" in order to complete the assignment
- be clear about your expectations and instructions

Entry #1
My name is Emma Geyer, I am a junior and I am currently in Block one in the teaching program. I am interning at Balsz Elementary School in Phoenix, and I am so excited for the opportunity to be in the classroom this semester!
I think that technology in the classroom can be very intimidating for a teacher with how advanced things are these days and how rapidly they are changing and advancing, but I think that it is a good tool to use in the classroom as it opens a lot of doors and creates opportunities that wouldn't be available by opening a textbook.
